Joshua Andrew Gehman, 9, Bally, was granted his angel wings on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, after a two-year battle with brain cancer.
He passed peacefully in the arms of his mom and dad and was surrounded by family and friends. Although Josh's life was short, he will forever be remembered for his immeasurable amounts of love, laughter, strength and resilience. He could light up a room with his smile and humor.
Josh loved school, his friends, firefighting (just like his dad), Lego's, Transformers and his stuffed animal collection. He was a fan of the Phillies, Eagles and Miami Dolphins. He was also an adopted member of Moravian College's baseball team. Although we will miss him every day, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Joshua is survived by his loving parents, Matthew and Cynthia (Kroninger) Gehman; his devoted brother, Brian; sister, Sakura; maternal grandparents, Duane and Susan Kroninger, Boyertown; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Diane Gehman, Boyertown; maternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Patricia Tomko, Collegeville; and paternal great-grandparents, Donald and Georgina Schmoyer, Barto.
Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1749 S. Main St., Bechtelsville, with the Rev. Eugene Zeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Niantic Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center Inc., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, and on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
