Evelyn A. "Ms. Puffy" Jones Stern, 80, Reading, departed this earthly life Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at 7:50 a.m. at ManorCare Nursing Home in West Reading, where she resided since Dec. 11, 2010, under hospice care.
Born Aug. 18, 1930, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Jones.
She was the widow of Charles Richard "Dickie" Stern Sr., who died May 20, 2003.
She graduated from Reading Senior High School and had taken courses to be an operating room technician.
She was employed by Community General Hospital as an operating room technician for 27 years and then worked for Greentree for several years, last working for AARP until her illness.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Shelley L. (Stern) Burdine and Brenda J. Stern, both of Reading; and two sons, Charles R. Stern Jr. and Jerome K. Stern, both of Reading.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son, Larry E. Stern; one daughter, LeMoyne D. Stern; one brother, Melvin Jones; and one sister, Dorothy Jones.
Services will be Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Henninger Funeral Home Inc., 229 N. Fifth St., Reading, PA 19601. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. www.henningerfuneralhome.com
