Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery for Evelyn Flanagan Mehurg, 92, Huntsville, who passed from this life Sunday, May 14, 2006, to start her new life with her Heavenly Father. Percy Nolan will officiate. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Highlands United Methodist Church, Huntsville. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
Mrs. Mehurg was a native and resident of Etowah County and Attalla for most of her life. She lived in Huntsville for the past six years. Mrs. Mehurg was a member of the Highlands United Methodist Church in Huntsville and a member of the Attalla Eastern Star No. 136. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Alexander Flanagan and Annie Josephine Owen; her beloved husband, James Albert Mehurg; daughter, Margaret Lewis; and brother, George Owen Flanagan.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Bob) Baker, Gadsden, Martha (Wallace) McCue, Fort Payne, and Joanna (Reggie) Elliott, Huntsville; son-in-law, Ray Lewis, Huntsville; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; niece, Francis Flanagan (Jerry) Foreman, Albertville; caregiver, Linda Poe; and dear friend and neighbor, Shirley Boutee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Highlands United Methodist Church, 3921 Broadmore N.W., Huntsville, AL 35810.
Pallbearers will be James Baker, John Elliott III, Phillip Jackson, Brett Meeks, George Weldon and Jimmy Youngblood.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
