Jesse A. Simmons, 77, Calhoun, died at the family residence at 7 p.m. Monday.

Services will be in the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Bellamy and Rev. Jack Stoops presiding. Burial is in Calhoun Cemetery.

He was born in Fayette County Dec. 3, 1903 to Samuel and Armeda (Wilson) Simmons. He married Freda Dickman Dec. 2, 1923 and she survives. He was a retired laborer and a member of the Calhoun Methodist Church.

Other survivors include a son, Donald Simmons, Mt. Erie; three daughters, Lorene Evans, Woodriver, Dorothy Henry and Lovetta Harmon, both Olney; a brother Clifford Simmons, Stockton, Ca.; a half-brother, Orville Hoyle, Ramsey; two sisters Fern Brown, Vandalia, and Janie Koontz, Filmore; 13 grand- children, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, a brother, two half-brothers, and two half-sisters.
