Charles Van Alstine started working part time for the Railroad Express Company on January 1, 1918, while he finished high school in Clinton, Oklahoma. He worked many offices in Oklahoma before he was appointed agent at Seminole in 1942. He passed away of a sudden heart attack on November 20, 1960 at Seminole, Oklahoma. He was originally buried in Mapel Grove Cemetery in Seminole but his widow later moved his grave to Stafford Cemetery in 1982.
"Uncle Charlie" aka "Pop" to his grandchildren was a cigar smoking, card playing, fun loving man! He was a great joke teller, loved a good laugh and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much.
