Oscar Monroe Moxley, 83, of Joppa died Dec. 2 at his home.

Born in Ennice, N.C., he was the son of the late John Lester and Ennice Higgins Moxley.

He was a past member of the Waterman's Association, attended the Christian Missionary Alliance and was a commercial fisherman.

Well-known in Harford County by hunters and fishermen also for his decoy carving, he loved to watch the migration of Martins.

The owner and farmer of Sharon Acres Farm in Forest Hill until 1941, he worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for one year, after which he worked at Edgewood Arsenal until his retirement in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Virginia Moxley of Joppa; two sons, Franklin James Moxley of Joppa, and Otto Clifton Moxley of Aberdeen; two daughters, Nina Faye Stephens of Knoxville, and Dora Ennice Plitt of Edgewood; three brothers, Olen Moxley of California, Newton Moxley and Onie Moxley, both of North Carolina; two sisters, Leota Baker of Seaford, Del., Nina Walton of North Carolina, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the McComas Funeral Home. The Rev. John Lucas will officiate. Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Edgar Ryan, Clifton Junior Moxley, Nick Thrappas, Wayne Willig, Kenny Blevins, and Leonard Sills.
