Stanley A. "Bud" Armatys, Jr. 85 of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Stanley was born May 7, 1925, on the family farm southwest of Cedar Rapids to Stanley, Sr. and Valeria (Micek) Armatys.

Stanley married Theresa Ziemba Jan. 8, 1952, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at Krakow in rural Nance County.

Survivors are: wife, Theresa, of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Joyce Braband and husband, Douglas, of Cedar Rapids and Jane Batenhorst and husband, Bernard, of Grand Island; sister, Frances Ziemba of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Edmund Armatys of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jill (Braband) Stohs and husband, Brett, Scott Braband and wife, Kandyce; and four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kymberlyn, Charlotte and Cassidy.

Stanley attended Boone County District 29 and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army post-World War II Germany before returning home to farm.

The couple lived their entire married life southwest of Cedar Rapids.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Theodore; and lifelong friend, Eldon Schomp.
