MARRIED 51 YEARS
Dr. and Mrs. Walker Celebrate Anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. Ware S. Walker Sr., parents of Mrs. C.R. Worrall of this city, have celebrated the fifty-first anniversary of their marriage. They are now living quietly at their beautiful country home in Bean Blossom township, twelve miles north-east of this city, and the health of each, at the present time is fairly good.
Dr. Walker was born in Kentucky in 1821 and came to Monroe County when eleven years old. His father was an intimate friend of Daniel Boone and Simon Kenton. Dr. Walker made nine trips to New Orleans on flatboats that were loaded with flour and meat, and he walked home twice from New Orleans. He and Eliza Hite were married at Mt. Tabor in 1832. To them nice children were born, six of whom are living. Dr. Walker has lived at his present home for sixty-two years. He maintained a deer park about the homestead for some years. When Louisville was a straggling town, Dr. Walker camped in what is now Market street, with a swamp, bullfrogs and mosquitoes about him.

Yesterday's World told of the death of Ware S. Walker, Sr., at his home near Stinesville.
The deceased was born August 17, 1821, in Spencer county, Kentucky, and in 1832 came with his parents to Monroe county where they settled on the old state road between Ellettsville and Mt. Tabor. Dr. Walker married Eliza Hite in 1851. They had four daughters, Mrs. Laura A. Smith, Mrs. Emma Worrall, Mrs. Hattie McFatridge, and Miss Mollie, unmarried. The three sons are Charles, of St. Louis, Cornelius and Ware Stokes, the two latter at home. Three children are dead. Dr. Walker practiced medicine several years and finally gave it up to attend to the large real estate which he inherited. He had served Monroe county as a representative in the Indiana Legislature and has been county commissioner and held many other positions of public trust. Deceased was an old Jeffersonian and Jackson Democrat of the old school.
Rev. George Pruitt conducted the funeral yesterday afternoon.

Aged Citizen of Bean Blossom Township Died Monday Night
Ware S. Walker, Sr., died Monday night at his home in Bean Blossom township three miles northeast of Stinesville after a lingering illness of paralysis. He was 83 years old.
The deceased had been failing in health for more than two years. He had suffered a number of strokes of paralysis and had the last one ten days ago, from which he never rallied.
Dr. Walker was one of the best known citizens in the county. He served as a Democratic county commissioner for two terms. His wife is still living.
He leaves the following children: Mrs. C. R. Worrall of this city, Ware S. Walker, Miss Mollie Walker, and Carr Walker of Stinesville.
The funeral was held at two o'clock this afternoon.
