COUSHATTA, LA - John Thomas, 79, of Coushatta, LA passed away January 11, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 14, 2011, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, LA. Officiating the services will be Rev. Bill Hines. Interment will follow at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, LA.
The family will receive friends before services, Friday, January 14, 2011, from 9:00A.M to 1:00 P.M.
John was a native of Hall Summit and was of the Baptist faith. He worked for United Gas Pipe Line Co. for forty-three years, retiring at Koran, LA. He enjoyed fishing, his boat, Grandpa Racing, his friends, and his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He was kind to animals and rescued many.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Otis William Thomas and Lillie Kolb Thomas; sisters, Ruth Hanna, Vivian Gibson, and Elaine Mundis; brothers, Otis William Thomas, Jr., Julian Thomas, Joseph Thomas, and Bob Thomas.
John is survived by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Thomas of 60 years; children, Rhonda Ann Abromitis and husband, Bill, John Steven Thomas and wife, Kim, and David Mark Thomas; grandchildren, Emily Collins and husband, Jerry, Heather Williams and husband, Stacy, Garrett Abromitis, and John Gardner; great grandchildren, Austin, Lance and Luke Williams; sisters, Judy Nichols and Viola Thomas; and brothers, Charles Thomas and L. G. Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Bill Abromitis, Stacy Williams, Garrett Abromitis, Steve Thomas, Russell Adams, and Mark Thomas.
