Helen L. Carlson, 93, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Aurora, passed away on May 11, 2002, at Shady Rest Care Pavilion, in Fort Myers. She was born on December 24, 1908 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (Smith) Wehrle.
    Mrs. Carlson worked as a secretary for the Wayside Cross Rescue Missions and also was a Sunday School Teacher for Claim Street Baptist Church in Aurora. She was one of the founders of the Village Bible Church in Sugar Grove. Mrs. Carlson moved to Fort Myers in 1980 from Aurora with her husband Clarence F. Carlson. She then joined the McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers.
    She is survived by her loving children, daughters: Judith (Henry) Schmidt of Fort Myers, Bonnie (David) Valentine of Harrisburg, IL and Linda Doyens of St. Charles; a son: Charles W. (Judith) Carlson of Plainfield, IL; a sister-in-law: Florence Carlson and nephew Lyle Smith both of Fort Myers; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
    Visitation for Mrs. Carlson will be on Sunday, May 19, 2002 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday, May 20, 2002 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Paul M. Johannaber and Pastor Tim Frezma will officiate with interment in West Side Cemetery, Batavia, Illinois.
    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Wayside Cross Rescue Mission or to the Special Olympics of Northeastern Illinois area.
