Roger "Buck" Reese Appleby died Monday, January 10, 2011 at home. He was born November 12, 1945 in Galesburg, IL.

Buck served our country in the U.S. Air Force, as well as two tours to the Middle East as a civil servant. His true love was teaching the Arizona Hunter Education as a volunteer for over 22 years. He was working on the second generation of students. He was the recipient of awards too numerous to mention.

Buck loved Ranger rides, hunting and fishing, camping at the sand dunes, and going to the mountains. He was a fire pit junkie, even in the middle of summer. He loved dogs and every dog that met him loved him.

Buck worked on the Marine Base as an airplane mechanic, until a motorcycle accident on June 20, 2009 which left him as a Quadriplegic. He kept going with a smile and a pleasant attitude. He was very well taken care of by his youngest brother-in-law, David Craner, who was his arms and legs 24/7.

Buck will be missed by all his friends at the Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club of which he was a lifetime member, and served on the board of directors. Thank you to all his friends that visited and helped him this last year and seven months, his rehab gals and guys, and Dr. Dorothy Wong. Thank you to the LDS 10th ward for everything. He will be forever missed and LOVED.

Buck is survived by his wife, Sherry Marie Appleby; daughters, Tina (Herb) Kiser and Glenda (Donny) Hazlett; grandchildren, Bethany & Enya Kiser and Mackenzie & Gavin Hazlett; foster daughter, Sheila Brooks and many in-laws and step-siblings. He had a HUGE extended family of friends. His wife, Sherry and daughters, Tina and Glenda are the owners of Hearing Aid Specialists, Inc.

Buck was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Appleby; mother, Ida Joyce Appleby; step-father, William David Oglesby; baby sister, Glenda Sue Appleby and in-laws, Martin LeRoy Craner and Dorothy Marie Craner.

Funeral Service will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Military Honors by Vietnam Veterans.
