Kent Douglas Jackson, son of Becky Mohler Jackson and Jeff Jackson, of rural Elsmore was born August 24, 1984 in Iola, Kansas, and died March 9, 2005, outside Elsmore, Kansas, of a self-inflicted gun shot. Kent grew up on the family farm near Elsmore, with his parents, sister-Lindsey, and younger brother-Kurt. He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in Moran, Kansas in 2003. While in school, he participated in football, basketball and FCCLA. After high school, he worked at Gates Rubber Company in Iola. Kent was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg, Kansas.
Kent enjoyed fishing with anyone who would go with him.
Survivors include his parents, Jeff Jackson, Elsmore, and Becky, Iola; a brother, Kurt, Elsmore and a sister, Lindsey, Iola. His grandparents, Conrad and Lorella Jackson, Elsmore, Darlene and Tom Thurman, Iola, and Don and Bernie Mohler, Humboldt; a great-grandmother, wima Mardick, Iola; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kent was preceded in death by his aunt, Loretta Jackson Boman, who died from complications of diabetes.
Kent was laid to rest under a large cedar tree, next to family. May God grant him eternal peace.
