US Congressman. He was a student at South Carolina College (1805-06) and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was justice of quorum of Spartanburg County, in 1810 and a member of the South Carolina State House of Representatives, (1810-14). In 1817, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving until 1819. After his term, he moved to Alabama, where he continued agricultural pursuits until his death.
