Mrs. Rice was born Dessie Sage March 28, 1891, at Julesburg. She accompanied her family to Pinyon in 1896. She attended schools at Pinyon, Coventry and Nucla.
The Rices were married in Nucla April 29, 1914. She was a member of the Second Park Sewing Club.
Surviving are four daughters Nellie Bennett, Viola Graybeal, June Littlejohn and Evelyn Garvey, all of Nucla; 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services for Dessie Adele Rice were held at the Nucla Church of Christ, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Nucla Cemetery. The family has requested that those who wish may make contributions to the Nucla-Naturita Ambulance Fund.
