As the story was told to me, Babe died in a bar fight with a local guy, Wayne Yancy. He fell, apparently hit his head against something and it knocked him unconscious. When it was apparent he wasn't going to wake up, someone took him home. His sister Clemer and her boyfriend Don took him to the hospital in Ft Smith, Arkansas, where he died a few hours later with her holding his hand.
Babe was preceeded in death by his father, Jesse James Shanks.
He was survived by his mother & stepdad, Fannie and Evit Seaton; his brothers, Gano, John and Bob; his sisters, Pauline "Sis", Tommie, Ruth and "Clemer" Louise.
