CARLSBAD--A funeral Mass for Juan B. Munoz, 81, of Hill Street, will be 10 a.m. Monday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Alcuin Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Military services will be performed graveside by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at San Jose Church.
Friends may call 1-5 p.m. today at West Funeral Home and 5-9 p.m. today at San Jose Church.
Mr. Munoz died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

Juan Baldez Munoz was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Carlsbad to Sabino Munoz and Ynez Bustamantes Munoz. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad.
Juan married Teresa Ortiz on May 5, 1942, in Carlsbad.
He was inducted into the Army during World War II on Aug. 13, 1942, and served in Europe. He was honorably discharged on April 4, 1946.
Juan worked for the city of Carlsbad for many years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed carpentry, deer hunting and his family. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on May 18, 1995, and a son, Johnny O. Munoz, on Oct. 20, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Edward O. Munoz, of Carlsbad; daughters, Lorina O. Munoz and Mary Ann Martinez, of Carlsbad; a brother, Serapio B. Munoz of Carlsbad; a sister, Mary M. Chavez of Carlsbad; and 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
