Mr. Blickhan, 54, Bolivar, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. The son of Dent Blickhan and Lily Nelle (Lahey) Blickhan, he was born in Kansas City.
He attended Raytown grade school and graduated from Raytown High School in 1974.
He worked for Quick-Trip for 18 years. He also worked for Blue Bonnet Ice Cream Co.
He owned a pet store, “Petsburg,” in Warrensburg for several years. His last job in Kansas City was at K.U. Medical Center. He lived in Lee’s Summit for 27 years before moving to Bolivar in 2008, in an effort to care for his ill father.
He earned an associate of arts degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Bolivar pet store and worked there for some time. He was also learning to be a cook at Kathy’s Pasta. He enjoyed stage acting in his spare time and was in two plays at the Walnut Street Theatre.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dent Blickhan.
He is survived by his mother; Lily Blickhan of Bolivar; his sister, Susan McAnelly, and her husband, Dr. Robert McAnelly, of Independence; and his uncle, Bill Lahey, and his wife, Sue, of Independence.
Services are at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lily Blickhan, Boliver.
