Paul died at his home at the age of 64. He was an engineer for Hardwick Knitter in Warren Massachusetts. He retired in 1986.

He was survived by his wife, Ellen M. Bolger Champagne, two sons; a daughter; a sister; five grandsons and a granddaughter.
