Charles Charles L. Adams, 84, of Roswell died on August 14, 2009. He was born in Mansfield, GA on January 28, 1925 and grew up in Atlanta with his family on Ponce de Leon Avenue during the depression. After graduating from Boys High School in 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Atlantic Theater of War as a member of a Navy Gun Crew on a Liberty ship and two T-2 Tankers. They carried air craft, tanks and ammo to our troops in the European Theater and our Russian Allies in Murrnansk, Russia, and fuel to our Army Air Corps in England. Then he served on a Navy Destroyer, the USS David W. Taylor DD-551, at Okinawa and in the occupation of Japan. At the end of the war, he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he graduated in March of 1950. On November 7,1953, he married the love of his life, Frances Brown of Atlanta and spent the next 55 plus years of their lives together. Frances predeceased Charles by seven weeks. After a brief period of employment with Burlington Industries in NC, he was employed by Texaco Inc, as a sales engineer in Georgia, Alabama and East Tennessee. He retired after 36 years on December 31, 1986. He was a Mason and a member of the Yaarb Shrine. He was a Life member of Alpharetta VFW Post 12002. He is survived by his sister Kathryn Nelson of Decatur, several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.
