Bonnie Wheeler Scoggins Adams, 90, died on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born on July 3, 1920, in Kings Mountain and spent most of her adult life in Havelock. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Havelock, where she was very active in the choir, and taught Sunday school. Later, she joined St. James Methodist Church in Newport. She was a charter member of the Havelock Garden Club, and worked at the voting polls for more than 20 years. She later became a passionate amateur artist.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, with the Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating.

Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

She is survived by four sons, Bryan Scoggins of New Bern, Tom Scoggins of The Villages, Fla., Dennis Scoggins of Marietta, Ga., and Chuck Scoggins of Cary; one brother, Stanley Wheeler of Statesville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Munden Funeral Home
