Hazel L. Bainbridge, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Sterling House in Salina. Mrs. Bainbridge was born Hazel Louise Smith on Feb. 25, 1926, in Dahinda, Ill., to Glen Lee and Evelyn Iola (Hegwood) Smith. She was an Army wife and was a lifetime volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired SMA William G. Bainbridge, in 2008; one granddaughter, Kristine Stone, in 2008; and two great-grandchildren, Penny and Leah Koop. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Koop and husband Steve, of Salina, and Mary Elizabeth Moore and husband Paul, of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Russell Smith, of Essex, Ill.; two grandchildren, Karrie Koop and Ryan Koop and wife Julie; and her great-grandchildren, Shane, Kodie and Khamry Stone, and Payton Koop.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 111 W. Magnolia St., Salina 67401, with the Rev. LeRoy Pralle officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Kansas. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401, is handling arrangements.
