Born in Bloomfield, NJ, Margaret lived there for most of her life until moving to Massachusetts five years ago. After spending many years as a homemaker and a volunteer for her church, Margaret began a long and successful career as a legal secretary working at various law firms in the area, and eventually moving to the Superior Court of New Jersey with the Hon. Rosemary Higgins Cass. She very much loved her work and retired reluctantly at the age of 78.
Wife of the late Irvin Crowell Pierson, she was the loving mother of JoAnn Pierson of Concord, Mass., and her late husband, Ronald C. Bentley, and John Dennis Pierson and his wife, Karin, of Clifton, NJ; grandmother of Robert A. Marchetti, Jr. of Whitefish, Montana and Dennis John Pierson of Clifton, NJ; great-grandmother of Emma and Sophie Marchetti of Whitefish; also survived by her brother, John Kavanagh, of The Woodlands, Texas; she was also the sister of the late Florence Golden, Charles Kavanagh, Katherine Busch, Joan Deveikis, and Miriam Kavanagh. Margaret was devoted to her sister, Miriam, for whom she cared after the death of their mother in 1959, for over 40 years.
