SOUTH PARIS — Robert Eugene Russell Sr., 85, of Hartford, died Friday, Jan. 7, at the Maine Veterans Home.
He was born in Hartford on March 26, 1925, the second son of Charles and Alice Bartlett Russell. He was educated in Hartford and Canton schools. He was drafted into the army in June, 1943 and discharged in February, 1945 with the rank of sergeant.
On June 7, 1947, he married Hazel Olive Draper Holland. He worked at Maine Central Railroad and was active in town affairs, plowing snow, building roads and bridges, lumbering, garage work and car sales.
He is survived by his wife Hazel; daughter, Jane Jordan and her husband Laurence of Hartford; son, Robert Russell Jr. and his wife Gladys of Hartford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, mother and two brothers.
