When Lucas Alvin Brown was born on July 27, 1894, in Hardin County, Tennessee, his father, William “Billey” James Brown age was 44 and his mother, Harriett Ruth Bivens age was 37. He married Bessie Virginia Crotts (1901-1969) on September 15, 1918, in his hometown. I understand that in his younger year he was once a teacher at the Purdy College located in McNairy County, Tennessee. Later years my Uncle Lucas worked for the United States Post Office in Lutts, Tennessee and delivered mail to our house each day when we lived in the Big Ivy Community. They had eight wonderful children in 19 years, Edith Inez (1919-1982), Johnnie Mae (1922-1996), Geraldine Virginia (1925-1995), O.C. (1931- 2016) Bobby Gene (1933-1995), Tommy Jack (1935-2004), Lucas Alvin, Jr. (1937-2000), and Peggy Janette (1939- ). He died on August 24, 1961, at the age of 67, and was buried in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Hardin County, Tennessee.
