Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Hill Crest Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Higdon was a native of Lincoln County. She attended school at Loyd Star. She lived in Hazlehurst from 1950 up until 2003 when she moved to Brandon to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Higdon was a member of Hill Crest Church of Christ.
Her husband, Walter D. "Shorty" Higdon, preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage.
She was known as Meemaw to all her family, especially grandchildren. She was loved by all of her family and was a wonderful mother to her two daughters.
She is survived by daughters, Patsy Simonson and husband, Jim, of Brandon and Janice Cook and husband, Eddie, of Flowood; grandchildren, Christa Ewing and Beau Simonson; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and volunteers at Hospice Ministries for the wonderful care provided.
