"MONETT -- Officiating at services for Joseph N. Rowell, 80, Monett, will be Father James F. McKenna. Mr. Rowell died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in St Vincent's Hospital.


Born Sept. 10, 1906, in Holden, Mr. Rowell was a well-known Monett businessman and had owned and operated Mansfield Clothing Store since 1938. He was a member of St Lawrence Catholic Church and past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Monett. He was also a longtime board member of Monett Savings and Loan. A graduate of Lee's Summit High School, he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1927 where he earned his master's degree in agricultural economics. He was a member of the Farm House fraternity and University of Missouri Alumni Association. He married Hildreth M. Mansfield on Oct. 30, 1933, and she survives.


Other survivors include a son, Charles J. Rowell of Monett; a grandson, Nick Rowell, and a granddaughter, Jenni Rowell, both of Monett; and three nieces." The Springfield News-Leader (Springfield, Missouri), November 24, 1986

"MONETT -- Services for Joseph N. Rowell, 80, Monett, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bennett-Wormington Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery near Monett.


Mr. Rowell died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in St Vincet's Hospital after a short illness.


Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home." The Springfield News-Leader (Springfield, Missouri), November 24, 1986
