MIFFLINBURG - Mrs. Helen Mae Shriner, 81, Cowan, Mifflinburg RD2, died today at 2:55 a.m. in the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where she was a patient for eight days. She had been seriously ill for five weeks.
Born Sept. 30, 1901, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Allen and Emma Jane Maurer Moyer. Her husband, John McClellan Shriner, died May 26.
Mrs. Shriner was a member of the Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg RD2, and the adult Sunday school class of the church.
Many years ago, Mrs. Shriner served as postmistress in Cowan and owned and operated a general store there.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Zechman of Mifflinburg RD2 and Mrs. Isabel Myers of Mifflinburg; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and the following sisters and brother, Miss Stella Moyer of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Sarah Reigel of South Williamsport, Mrs. Mabel Lindig of Lewisburg, Mrs. Elsie Averitt of Seal Beach, Calif., Earl Moyer of Milton and Mrs. Eleanor Ernst of Havertown.
A son, John C., died in 1937.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Strunk Funeral Home, Mifflinburg, by the Rev. Ned L. Knisely. Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received in the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9 and Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg RD2, in care of the Rev. Ned L. Knisely.
