Alma Gay, 88, of Beam Road died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
Mrs. Gay was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, gardening, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gay Cemetery in Buckhorn, Ky. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Doorway, Ky., March 28, 1920, Mrs. Gay was the daughter of George Matt and Carrie Burns Adams. She married Rufa Gay on July 20, 1940.
He preceded her in death May 17, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Tony (Mitzi) Gay of Columbus; daughters, Dorcas Gay of Greensburg and Dollie (Keith) Louden of Columbus; grandchildren, Travis Louden, Paula Henson, David Henson, Patricia Trobaugh and Lisa Patrick; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and half brothers, Bobby and Bennie Adams, both of Kentucky;
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Jessie, Wiley, Urias, Woolery, Willie and Sammie Adams; and sisters, Anna Adams and Ada Napier.
