Lyle Webster of Fostoria peacefully passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Wamego City Hospital. He was born November 11, 1923 north of Fostoria, Kansas to Cleo and Bertha Shehi Webster. He graduated from Cleburne in 1941. After graduation, he worked at Lockheed Airplane Plant in California, then returned home to farm and help other farmers. He married LaVera Fritzson on February 14, 1952 in Topeka, KS. She survives of the home.

Lyle delivered fuel for Mobile Oil for 35 years and Apco Oil Co. for 8 years. He owned and operated a service station in Fostoria for 55 years. He also drove a school bus, and served on the Fostoria School Board and Shannon Township Board for many years.

Lyle enjoyed getting together with a group of friends for coffee each day. He was well-known for the toys and "art" he created out of scrap metal, nuts and bolts. For many years, he enjoyed taking his wife and children on all-day Sunday trips to points of interest throughout the state of Kansas.

He is also survived by three sons, Doug and his wife Denise of Fostoria, Lynn and his wife Marla of Olsburg and Gregg of Fostoria; one daughter, Michelle Nibarger and her husband Richard of Towanda; three sisters, Ardeva Gibson of Olsburg, Francis Schmidt of Topeka and Betty Bain of Whiting; two grandsons, Mitch Webster and wife Jodee of Olsburg and Russell Webster and fiance' Kendle Henry of Fostoria, six granddaughters, Cyndee Washington and husband Brandon of Topeka, Codie and Callie Webster of Olsburg, Ashli Lewis of Westmoreland, Andie and Jessie Nibarger of Towanda; and three great grandchildren, Kaelee and Kenna Washington and Braac Webster. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery north of Fostoria. Mr. Webster will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Stewart Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends during visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Olsburg American Legion or the Olsburg Community Swimming Pool and left in the care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
