Robert Nasi Bergstedt, 81, of Esko, passed away Jan. 19, 2011, in his home.
He was born July 12, 1929, in Duluth to Sakrie and Ida (Nasi) Bergstedt.
Robert was a lifelong homebuilder in the Cloquet/Esko area. After retirement, he was a wood carver, boat builder and gardener.
Robert taught his sons to hunt and fish, living long enough to see his grandsons and granddaughters carry on his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Riika; parents; and siblings Mildred, Edwin, Bill, Marian and Jim.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernice (Stenroos); children Mark (Lori), Keith, Roberta (Bud) Grove, Philip (Joyce) and Todd (Karen); grandchildren Katy, Buck, Orrie (Brooke), Nick, Jessica, Erika, Jana, Karly, Alyssa and Carmen; two great-grandchildren, Ruuben and Ida Mae; siblings Mabel, Jack (Elaine), Phyllis, Peter (Joy), Peggy (Gary), Naomi and Janet (John); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
VISITATION: 5-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. time of sharing Monday, Jan. 24, in the Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 25, in the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 25 Church Road, Esko. Spring interment at Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Esko.
