WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ms. Juanita E. (Lewis) Petteway, 69, formerly of Waterbury, Conn., died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the Washington Hospital Center after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Petteway was born May 30, 1941, in Waterbury, to the late James and Jannie Lewis. She was educated in the Waterbury school system and was a graduate of Crosby High School. She attended nursing school in Willimantic, and worked in banking in Waterbury. She loved the Lord and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
She is survived by Clifton and Stanley Petteway Jr., and Stephanie (Petteway) Clark, grandchildren, sisters and brothers. She had a love for everyone she met.
A musical celebration will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl St., Waterbury. Burial is Monday, Jan. 24, in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 9 a.m. at Petteway Funeral Home. www.pettewayfuneralhomellc.com
