Thomas Olen Stone was born at home on May 8, 1929, in Union Grove, Alabama. He attended Union Grove schools and graduated from Arab High School in 1947.

He met Minnie Arnice Tipton from Joppa at their workplace, Blue Bell, Inc., in 1948. They were soon married, had four children, and stayed together for 57 years until her passing in 2005, on the day after their anniversary. Olen worked for Blue Bell, Inc., best known for Wrangler jeans, from 1948 until 1988. Though he retired from his management roles, he was available upon request to continue to fix sewing machines for individuals or nearby companies.

Olen was ordained as a deacon in 1956 at Mt. View Baptist Church, Union Grove, Alabama. After moving to Ada, Oklahoma, in 1960, he joined the deacon board there, and was Chairman of Deacons during one of their three years out west.

In 1963, they moved to Oneonta, and he soon became a deacon at First Baptist Church. Olen served as deacon from 1963 until given deacon emeritus status, was chairman for two years, and on several maintenance, etc., committees. He was chairman of the committee that did the newest renovation of the sanctuary.

Olen passed away at the age of 93 on October 7, 2022. He is preceded in death by wife Minnie Arnice Stone; grandson Daniel Stone.

He leaves behind children Larry Stone (Karon), Becky Stone, Jerry Stone (Deb), and Terri Sanders (Jamey); grandchildren Matthew Stone, Zachary Stone (Hilda), Valerie Dye, Sara Gavin (Michael), Steven Stone, and Peyton Sanders; great grandchildren Maria and Elizabeth Stone; a great grandson to be born in 2023.
