CHESTER E. ASHBURN
Chester E. Ashburn, 51, of Overland Park, KS, died Wednesday at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He was born in Garnett and lived in the surrounding area most of his life.
He was employed by the Shawnee Mission School District. Mr. Ashburn was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Lenexa.
He leaves four daughters, Mrs. Paula, Mrs. Brenda, Ms. Donna Ashburn, and Ms. Jan Ashburn, all of Overland Park; four brothers, Art Ashburn, Springfield, Mo., Delbert Ashburn, Burlington; Carl Ashburn, Garden City; and Cecil Ashburn, Garnett; four sisters, Mrs. Opal Mahon, Eudora; Mrs. Margaret Lane, Watts, Okla.; Mrs. Ether Willey, Lane; Mrs. Beverly Potter, Garnett, and three grandchildren of Overland Park.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 17 at Salem Lutheran Chruch in Lenexa and graveside services at Garnett cemetery, 2:30 p.m.(D.A.E./The Anderson Countian Newspaper, February 22, 1979)
