ARTHUR WILLIAM ASHBURN
Services for Arthur William Ashburn, 83, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ashburn died Monday, Aug. 21, 1995, at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1911, in Garnett, the son of Jacob and Olive Showalter Ashburn.
He moved to Lawrence 25 years ago from Springfield, Mo. He was a security guard for Hercules Inc. in DeSoto.
He married Ethel Mae Johnson on March 1, 1935, in Garnett. She died Octt. 26, 1987. He married Mabel L. Ray on June 12, 1989, in Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Bill, Lawrence, Richard, Somersworth, N.H., and Claron, Denver; three daughters, Shirley Ireland, Dike, Tex., Barbara Roberts, Edgerton, and Carol Day, Shawnee; a brother, Cecil Ashburn, Liberty, Mo; two sisters, Opal Mahon, Eudora, and Beverly Potter, Garnett; a stepson, Kenneth Hartman, St. Joseph, Mo; two stepdaughters, Imogene Ruff and Juanita Hodges, both of Lawrence; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the morturary.
