She was a 52 year member of the Frist Baptist Church, West Jefferson, Oho , and also atteneded London Baptist Church, She served several terms as a part time Missionary in Romania for the Southern Baptist Convention.
She was a Past Noble Grand of the Coral Rebekah Lodge No. 222 of West Jefferson, and a very community minded person. She was known as "The Flower Lady" for her planting and maintenance of the flower barrels along Main Street in downtown West Jefferson.
She was a great organizer, organizing and putting on many dinners at the First Baptist Church. She was a great cook, winning honors twice at the West Jefferson Farmer's Market Chili cook-off two years in a row.
She was a remarkable lady, her attitude and courage in the way that she faced her 7 1/2 year battle with cancer inspired many people who knew her, gave them hope and courage if they should face a similar situation.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charlie M. Miller; being married on September 11, 1958 in Sullivan, Missouri and on September 14, 1958 in West Jefferson, Ohio.
Two daughters, Lucinda (Robert) Zeallear of West Jefferson, and M/Sgt. Malinda (Garry) Merrill of Jamestown, Ohio; three grandsons, Charles Jacob Zeallear and Justin Reisinger of West, Jefferson, and Christain Merrill of Jamestown; granddaughter , Lindsey Merrill of Jamestown; two sisters Marie Hunter of Missouri and Judy DeGonia of Arkansas; brother, Jim Shelton of Texas; two sisters-in-law of Missouri and three in Texas.
A very close friend, Lora Wells; numerous nieces and nephews, She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and five brothers.
