Phoebe White
Mother of opera singer Francia White, Phoebe was a famous concert soprano. Following her marriage to a wealthy Texas and Alabama cotton rancher, she left the stage and became a voice teacher. While Mr. White was strongly opposed to their daughter becoming a singer and going on the stage, Phoebe was Francia’s first voice teacher and encouraged throughout her life. One of Phoebe’s pupils was the famous baritone Louis Graveure who was married to actress Camilla Horn.
