He attended Central High School in Superior and then joined the US Marine Corps in 1954 at the age of 17. He served three years of which 14 months were in Osaka, Japan and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal and also earned his GED while serving.
Bob and Kathy (Liljegren) were married in 2002 and celebrated 17 years of marriage the day before he passed away.
He retired from Moline Bakery in Duluth as a Heliarc Welder in 1998 and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing. He was a member of the Superior ABC Bowling Association, bowling at the Center Lanes (now Landmark) and Village Lanes in several leagues. He was a member of the Pattison Park Thursday Night Couples, VFW, and Senior Golf leagues. Bob will always be remembered for his 'two' TVs on at the same time and his immense DVD collection. He loved to read and work jigsaw puzzles, framing, and displaying many of them and giving others away. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, especially a Brett Favre fan – no matter what team he played for! His past affiliations included the Elk and Moose Clubs. He was a member of Holy Assumption Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janice; son, Scott; grandson, Michael; brothers: Henry and Harlan Cyr; and sister, Venita 'Neda' Norman.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Vicki (Dick) Lull, Terri (Dale) Maki, Mike (Misty) Berry, and Rob (Karen Jukich) Berry; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; Kathy's family: Karly (Nate) Madill, Kristy (John Derick) Ramey, and Don (Karla) Erickson III; Lois (Leo) Yrjanainen, Jim Anttila; and Bob and Kathy's special friend, Bridget Kubala.
