Mrs. Massam Pearson
Milford Times March 30, 1901

The long illness of Mrs. Massam Pearson was terminated by her death on Tuesday morning March 20.

Josephine Augusta Birdsall was born in Pittsford, Monroe County, N. Y., April 11, 1842. She came to Milford with her parents in 1849 and continued to reside here until her death. She was married to Massam Pearson March 12, 1862, who, with three sons, Dr. C. B. Pearson of Rankin, John M. Pearson of Lake Linden and Clarence Pearson of Milford, survive her. Mrs. Pearson was converted in the winter of 1870-71 and has since been one of the most active workers in the Methodist Church. She was greatly interested in missionary work and in her the church societies have lost one of their most enthusiastic and most consecrated members.

The death of Mrs. Pearson comes as a personal sorrow in a wide circle of friends. She was a woman of unusual intelligence and was well informed on all topics. Added to this, her uniform kindliness of heart, her good deeds and constant thoughtfulness of others, endeared her to every one of her acquaintances.

The funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the residence on First Street, Rev. O. F. Winton of the Methodist Church officiating.

All three of her sons live in Orange County California at the end of their lives with their families.
