Wilfred Steffensmeier 04 Jan 2002- Howells, NE
74, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells with the Revs. Paul Ortmeier and Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today with a 3 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. parish and Knights of Columbus rosary, and 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday, all at the church. Mr. Steffensmeier was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Cuming County in the Olean area to Bernard and Julia (Renner) Steffensmeier. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Olean near rural Howells. He married Ann Franzluebbers on Aug. 20, 1957, in Monterey in rural West Point. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and American Legion, all of Howells Farmers Union. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Patrick (Mary) Steffensmeier of Norfolk and Steve Streffensmeier of Howells; four daughters, Loretta (Larry) Hockmeier and Arlene Steffensmeier, all of Norfolk, Marge (Randy) Cech of Clarkson, and carol (Dave)Semerad of Dodge; five grandchildren, four brothers, George Steffensmeier and Walter (Mary Ann) Steffensmeier, all of Dodge, the Rev Ralph Steffensmeier, Aunts Theresa Huhman, Ann Herrmann, Mary Ulrich, Frances Franzlubbers Steffensmeier of Cedar Rapids and Norbert (Janice) Steffensmeier of Omaha, and three sisters, Theresa Dinslage, and Agnes (William) Hunke all of West Point, and Caroline Kemp of Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Herman Steffensmeier, Aloysius Steffensmeier, Nickolas Steffensmeier and Vincent Steffensmeier.
