Services for Ignatius J. Gentrup, 61, West Point, were Tuesday Dec. 22, 1992 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point. Rev. Gary Ostrander officiated with military rites by VFW Post 4912 at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews Mike Gentrup, David Ulrich, Norbert Johnson, Donald Gentrup, Allan and Jim Franzluebbers. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Neuvirth, B. J. Diers, Stan Hein, Orville Meyer, Mac Seeman and Bob Godberson. Mr. Gentrup died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1992 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point. He was born at Beemer May 18, 1932, to Theodore and Theresa (Spenner) Gentrup. He attended rural school in Cuming County and Guardian Angels Elementary School He married Rose Franzluebbers June 11, 1958 at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus and VFW Post 4912. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife: daughters, Christine Gentrup, Lincoln, and Jean and her husband, Gary Schulzkump, West Point; sons and daughter-in-laws Ron (Diane) of Wayne, Marvin of West Point, and Leon (Beth) of Norfolk and Lynn of Lincoln: seven grandchildren: brothers, William of West Point, Leo, Fred, Ted, all of Beemer; sisters, Cecelia Johnson, and Mrs. Catherine (Vincent) Ulrich, both of West Point, Sister Clarice of Colorado Springs, CO, Leona Gentrup, Denver, CO, Millie Gentrup, Hamilton, MT and Mrs. Theresa (Alvin) Spader of Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy and a grandson in infancy.
