He was born in Wharton, N.J., the son of Alan and Rose Jean (Ward) Henderson. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. Tom loved to drive and drove a contract postal truck until he lost his eyesight. Although he was blind, Tom was a skilled mechanic, using touch and keen hearing. Tom was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed working on small engines and spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Robert Henderson; and stepbrothers, William and Bruce Blanchard.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois (Polwin) Henderson; daughters, Sharon Lambert and her husband, Michael; Kathy Henderson and her companion, Shelby; and Ericka Henderson; grandchildren, Thomas Lambert and Kristan Young; great-granddaughters, Hailey and Charlotte Young; several nieces and nephews; and Heidi, his faithful lap dog of seven years.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, in Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
