Harold G. Adams, 73, of Dallas, died February 10, 2000. Born in Muskogee, OK on July 1, 1926. He earned a B.S. degree from Oklahoma State University and was honored in the 1949-50 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He earned J.D. and M.L.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1960 and the Oklahoma State Bar in 1974. Adams served as Southwest Regional Manager, American Arbitration Association, while attending night law school and after graduation, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County from 1960 to 1962. He was an original partner in the law firm Adams, Callejo, Cheek and Dean. Adams also served as a member of the Board of Directors and President of the Garland General Hospital, Chairman of the Martin Foundation, Inc. and as Vice President, Forest Lane Pharmacy, Inc. In 1965, he formed a law firm known as Harold G. Adams, Inc., an active trial firm on the 45th floor of the First National Bank. In 1974, Mr. Adams served as a Special Assistant to Oklahoma's Governor David Hall and served as Deputy Director of the Oklahoma Crime Commission. In 1977, he was sworn in as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration and began serving in Santa Ana, CA. In 1979, he was appointed Chief Judge in New Orleans and 2-1/2 years later, Regional Chief Judge, Region VI, officing in the Dallas Federal Building. In 1983, Adams resigned to become Hearing Office Chief Administrative Law Judge for the North Dallas Office of Hearings and Appeals.
On April 1, 1999, Judge Adams retired after 21 years of federal service. Adams also served as Military Judge for the Texas National Guard, was the first permanent Commanding Officer of the 221st Radio Relay Squadron, Texas Air National Guard, Garland, TX and graduated from the Air War College. In WWII, he won his wings in the Combat AirCrew and served as a gunner on a U.S. Navy Torpedo Bomber. After 42 years of military longevity, he retired as Lt. Col., U.S. Air Force Reserve. Adams was an Eagle Scout and while a member of Texas Game Fishing Club, he won 2 International Billfish Tournaments in Acapulco, Mexico. He was active in the Masons, Hella Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, Dallas Commandry and in 1997 was elected Director of the Royal Order of Jesters and was a long-time member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Prior to entering Law School, Adams was manager of the Garland, TX Chamber of Commerce and owned a general insurance agency. Judge Adams was a member of the Dallas Bar Association for most of 4 decades. Judge Adams is survived by: his son, Patrick Andrew Adams of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Sherry Adams of Dallas; sister, Pam Adams Edwards of Cambridge, MA; and numerous cousins and lifelong friends. Ms. Vicki Tunstall was the love of his life. Service Monday, February 14, 2000, 11 a.m., Main Sanctuary of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Dr. Stan Copeland officiating.
