Nunzio J. Rehm Sr., 78, Altoona, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Friday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.

He was born in Ebensburg, son of the late John A. and Frances (Domenick) Rehm.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Long), and he and his "Baby" were happily married for 59 years. Also surviving are a son, Nunzio Jr. and wife, Cynda, of Altoona; a daughter, Linda Kissell and husband, Fred, of Altoona; four grandchildren: Michele (Rehm) McCarthy and husband, Tim, Brian Rehm and wife, Krista, Kirk Kissell and wife, April, and Brad Kissell, all of Altoona; six great-grandchildren: Brady and Connor McCarthy, Tyson and Trevor Rehm and Chase and Jacob Kissell; a sister, Marie Forman-Bloom of Sun City, Ariz.; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Myron Rehm.

Nunzio was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School, where he was a standout football player. He also attended and played football at Penn State University. He was the founder and owner/operator of Rehm's Bakery and Pizza Shops and was a successful entrepreneur in the real estate business. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Nunzio, "The Boss Man," lived every day of his life to the fullest and was extremely passionate and successful in every aspect, especially in loving and supporting his family and friends. One of the things "Pap" enjoyed doing the most was playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching them compete in athletics.

Although he will be sadly missed, he was truly a role model for all of us, and his legacy and life's lessons will live on forever.

Friends will be received from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona (www.stevensmortuary.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Servinsky. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, in Nunzio's memory.
