He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 28, 1921 and was a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific theatre. Mr. Karwan worked for 39 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Cleveland and retired to South Carolina in 1994.
He is survived by two sons, Kirk (Pat) of Greenville and Mark (Sabina) of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, in Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, S.C.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family asks that memorials be made to the McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
