George's parents were Addison Sheetz and Eleanor Thornburg.
Addison died in Kansas when George was around 5 years old. The family originally moved back to Chillicothe and stayed w/ George's paternal Grandparents Jacob and Elizabeth Sheetz. Little is known of the family between 1875 and George's marriage to Rosa in 1894. His mother shows up as Vera Sheets in the 1910 United States census for Chilicothe listed as a housekeeper for the Randolph Hughs family. Hermarriage certificate lists her name as Eleanor (she has also known as Lovenia, Cebina).
In an interesting side note, the family started to change the spelling of the name from Sheetz to Sheets after WWI.
