ABERNATHY, NORMA JEAN - Of Jackson, went to spend eternity with her Lord on January 25, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas on December 19, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Martin Abernathy; and grandson, David Troy McMurtrie. She leaves behind two children, Troy (Brenda) Abernathy of Pleasant Lake, Donella (Wayne) Jones of Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Dawn (Steve) Filippine, Denise (Matthew) Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Matthew Morgan, Leonardo Lewis Filippine; brother, Charles Walter Brunson of Kevil, Kentucky; and a very special friend, Ed Young. Norma was a member of Grace Church. She retired from K-Mart at the age of 80 after many years of service. We rejoice that she is whole again and celebrating in heaven with her family and friends that have gone on before her. This is not the end...but the beginning. A special thanks to Great Lakes Hospice for their care and support. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Bailey officiating.
