Madonna Mary Mapes Battle Creek Madonna Mary Mapes, 84, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Care Community. She was born December 18, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Philip and Mary Bernice (Shanly) Corkins. Madonna was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, a past member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed crocheting. In August of 1946 she was married to Jack Mapes who preceded her in death on October 21, 1986. She was also preceded by her parents, one son: Robert Mapes; one brother: Joseph Corkins and two sisters: Irene Mills and Patricia Chesebro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011, at St. Philip Catholic Church with The Rev. Charles H. Fischer officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. where the Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Southern Care Hospice, 4341 S. Westnedge Avenue, Suite 2100, Kalamazoo, MI, 49008.
