Brother of James Orr and John Whitfield Green
Major Green Kerr came alone to Texas in 1858 and bought 590 acres of land in the Vineland Community, northwest of McKinney. He then went back to Tennessee and returned with his family and slaves. He and his wife, Mariah Henderson Kerr, were the parents of nine children, Jerome B, Elizabeth, Lawson, Malinda Jane, Ruth, John Steele, A.W., A.D., and Will M. Jerome died in the Battle of Shiloh.
