Barbara Wallace Dittmore, 91, of Provo, passed away June 9, 2002 at her home.

She was born in Driggs, Idaho, May 16, 1911 to Howard Ashley Wallace and Margaret Groves Little Wallace. Her early years were spent in the beautiful Teton Valley where her parents were pioneer settlers. After graduation from Teton High School, she attended Utah State University, where she met Marlin Lewis Dittmore. They were married December 12, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Barbara majored in Home Economics, learning skills which she used to serve others throughout her life.

She lived in Washington DC and Bayside, New York for several years before settling in New Jersey, where the family lived until 1973. In addition she was active in the community as a member of the Leonia, N.J. Women's Club and Book Clubs. She was employed by Prentice-Hall publishing from 1961 to 1974.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Edgemont 10th Ward, serving in various callings. While living in New Jersey, she served as a Ward Relief Society president for eight years.

She loved people as well as good music and art. Barbara was a member of the Symphony Guild, Utah Fine Arts Club and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by seven children: Barbara-Jean (Boyd) Benson, Downey, CA; Suzanne (Dale) Smith, Burley, ID; Sandra (James) Knecht, Athens, GA; Marlene (Richard) Johnson, Sandy; Marilyn (Doug) Webster, Alpine; Lewis (Iris) Dittmore, Lake Oswego, OR; Gary (Karen) Dittmore, Salt Lake; 42 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marlin in 1992.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont North Stake Center, 4300 North Canyon Road. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
