DELTA - L. Derral Christensen, age 75, was born to Lawrence and Madge Cora Rollins Christensen in Delta May 23, 1927 and died July 27, 2002 in Delta, surrounded by his family.

Married Barbara Colleen Sorensen in the Manti LDS Temple June 8, 1948.

At age 18, after the death of his father, helped run the family farms and cattle operation. Assisted his mother in caring for younger brothers and sisters. Sold fertilizer, insurance, owned and operated International Equipment. Later became involved in buying ranches and subdividing property in Southern Utah. Pilot for many years. Things he took great pride in were his airplanes, cabin, motor home, and house boat at Lake Powell. Enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. Member of LDS Church, J C's, and Delta Kiwanis Club. Served on the Stock Show Board. Worked hard and enjoyed family and friends, especially at Puffer Lake, Swains Creek, and Lake Powell. Generous donations to the community include: Recreational Beach Area for Gunnison Bend Reservoir, land and water for Sunset View Golf Course. His generous donations to Delta Hospital, Snow College, Cedar City Cemetery and others were a great benefit to all. Of all his accomplishments in life, Derral's wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. His wife and family will always be grateful for the love, work ethic and integrity he lived and taught them.

Derral is survived by his wife, Barbara, Delta; children, Keith S (Kristina) Christensen, Salt Lake City, Michael D (Chris) Christensen, Joyce (Mike) Barney, both Delta, Ann (Neil) Dutson, Las Vegas, NV; son-in-law, Mark (Bonnie) Jacobs, Cedar City; daughter-in-law, Polly Christensen, Las Vegas, NV; 32 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, and sisters, Helen (Victor) Gremli, Long Island, NY, Cleo (Mary) Christensen, Delta, Scott (Eleanor) Christensen, Donna (Robert) Jordison, Carol Ann Christensen, all Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by son, Tom L Christensen; daughter, Susan Jacobs; sister, Joyce Pratt; and grandson, Casey Dutson.

Services Tues. July 30, 2002, 11 a.m., Sutherland 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Nickle Mortuary Mon. July 29, 2002, 7-8:30 p.m. and Tues. at the Church 9-10:40 a.m. Burial, Delta Cemetery.
